research on air quality

Research in US at Northwestern University has shone a light onto the impact that electric vehicles could have on US lives and the economy.

The study concluded that if EVs replaced 25% of combustion-engine cars currently on the road, the US would save approximately $17 billion annually by avoiding damages from climate change and air pollution.

They took the modelling a stage further, suggesting that if 75% of cars on US roads were electric, with increasing renewable energy generation, then savings could reach as much as $70 billion annually.

The study was led by who commented: “Vehicle electrification in the United States could prevent hundreds to thousands of premature deaths annually while reducing carbon emissions by hundreds of millions of tons.”
